Ductless systems are a rapidly growing part of Maryland’s HVAC marketplace. With some systems achieving up to a 30 Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER), ductless mini-split heating and cooling units are some of the most efficient products on the market. Couple that with the ability to turn off the system when not in use, and homeowners are seeing operating costs at pennies per dollar to that of conventional ducted HVAC units.
At Grove Heating and Cooling, we offer Mitsubishi mini-split systems that deliver efficient, zoned heating and cooling without the need for ductwork. Browse the systems we offer and see how these cooling and heating solutions provide you with comfort all year long!
Ductless mini-splits consist of a heat pump or air conditioner and individual air handling units. Systems with air conditioners offer cooling only, while heat pump systems offer both heating and cooling.
The biggest difference between ductless HVAC systems and conventional heating and cooling is that mini-splits do not use ductwork. Instead of ductwork, each room in your home – or “zone” – that you want heated or cooled is outfitted with its own air handler. The air-handling unit is installed on the wall or within the ceiling and is connected to the heat pump or air conditioner installed outside through piping called a line set. The line set runs through a small hall in the exterior wall of each area or room, and the air handler blows heated or cooled air directly into that space.
There are several benefits to choosing a ductless heating and cooling system for your home. Some of these reasons, include:
One of the biggest advantages of a ductless system is the ability to deliver zoned heating and cooling, which conventional systems can’t do unless they have an additional zoning system. Ductless mini-splits allow you to heat or cool based on everyone in your home’s own unique temperature needs.
A conventional system delivers heating and cooling to keep the home at the same temperature, which is rarely needed because each “zone” in your home has different needs. Ductless mini-splits allow each zone to operate without affecting other areas. If an area is unoccupied, dial back heating and cooling use to save energy without impacting areas that are occupied. If one family member likes to sleep in a warm room while another likes it a bit chilly, each person is able to achieve their ideal comfort levels without making the other too hot or too cold.
Ductless mini-splits are very efficient and rarely break down. However, just like other HVAC equipment, they occasionally need repairs. A few signs that your system may need inspected by the heating and cooling experts at Grove Heating and Cooling, include:
